چکیده

This review describes the approach and results from the paper by Wagner and Leupers [1]. The methods they have developed for compilers for application specific instruction set processors (ASIPs) and specifically network processors (NPs) with bit-packet addressing are mainly concentrated to extensions to the traditional register allocation by graph coloring. ASIPs are used in areas where general-purpose processors do not provide enough performance and application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) do not provide enough flexibility. The most successful area so far has been digital signal processors (DSPs). ASIPs have an instruction set that is specifically targeted at a group of applications and normally also a nonhomogeneous register file. This complicates the task for the compiler. Since traditional code selection and register allocation algorithms cannot be used. Often the special instructions are not easily described in the C language, which forces us to extend the source language. This may however not be the case for all special instructions.

Design and Implementation of Field Programmable Gate Array Based Baseband Processor for Passive Radio Frequency Identification Tag (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In this paper, an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) base band processor for a passive tag is presented. It proposes a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag digital base band architecture which is compatible with the EPC C C2/ISO18000-6B protocol. Several design approaches such as clock gating technique, clock strobe design and clock management are used. In order to reduce the area Decimal Matrix C...

C compiler design for a network processor

One important problem in code generation for embedded processors is the design of efficient compilers for target machines with application specific architectures. This paper outlines the design of a C compiler for an industrial application specific processor (ASIP) for telecom applications. The target ASIP is a network processor with special instructions for bit-level access to data registers, ...

Retargetable C Compiler for Network Processors

Application-specific instruction-set processors (ASIP) are widely used in network processors. With a high demand from the market for faster new product development, retargetable compilers, and the associated knowledge, become essential for development. Based on the LCC retagetable C compiler, we added an ASIP target derived from the DLX instruction set, which was successfully used in a network ...

Proposed Feature Selection for Dynamic Thermal Management in Multicore Systems

Increasing the number of cores in order to the demand of more computing power has led to increasing the processor temperature of a multi-core system. One of the main approaches for reducing temperature is the dynamic thermal management techniques. These methods divided into two classes, reactive and proactive. Proactive methods manage the processor temperature, by forecasting the temperature be...

Automatic C Compiler Generation from Architecture Description Language ISAC

This paper deals with retargetable compiler generation. After an introduction to applicationspecific instruction set processor design and a review of code generation in compiler backends, ISAC architecture description language is introduced. Automatic approach to instruction semantics extraction from ISAC models which result is usable for backend generation is presented. This approach was succe...
